Example 1.70 from Elementary Algebra, 1.5 Visualize Fractions

Visualize Fractions: example 1.70

Divide: $- \frac{2}{3} \div \frac{n}{5} .$

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution

$- \frac{2}{3} \div \frac{n}{5}$

To divide, multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second. $- \frac{2}{3} \cdot \frac{5}{n}$

Multiply. $- \frac{10}{3 n}$
