Example 4.30 from Prealgebra, 4.2 Multiply and Divide Fractions
Fill in the chart for each fraction in the left column:
| Number | Opposite | Absolute Value | Reciprocal |
|---|---|---|---|
Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.
To find the opposite, change the sign. To find the absolute value, leave the positive numbers the same, but take the opposite of the negative numbers. To find the reciprocal, keep the sign the same and invert the fraction.
| Number | Opposite | Absolute Value | Reciprocal |
|---|---|---|---|
The book's Try It right after this example: same idea, new numbers. Only the answer is given.
Fill in the chart for each number given:
| Number | Opposite | Absolute Value | Reciprocal |
|---|---|---|---|
How did it go?
