Add and Subtract Polynomials: example 6.7

Find the sum: $(5 y^{2} - 3 y + 15) + (3 y^{2} - 4 y - 11) .$

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution

Identify like terms.

Rearrange to get the like terms together.

Combine like terms.
