Solve Proportion and Similar Figure Applications: example 8.73

Solve the proportion: $\frac{n}{n + 14} = \frac{5}{7} .$

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution

Multiply both sides by the LCD.

Remove common factors on each side.

Simplify.

Solve for $n$ .
