Finding the Sum of Matrices

Find the sum of $A$ and $B,$ given

A = [\begin{matrix} a & b \\ c & d \end{matrix}] and B = [\begin{matrix} e & f \\ g & h \end{matrix}]

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution
Add corresponding entries.

$\begin{array}{l} A + B = [\begin{matrix} a & b \\ c & d \end{matrix}] + [\begin{matrix} e & f \\ g & h \end{matrix}] \\ = [\begin{matrix} a + e & b + f \\ c + g & d + h \end{matrix}] \end{array}$
