Add and Subtract Mixed Numbers: example 4.83

Add: $3 \frac{4}{9} + 2 \frac{2}{9} .$

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution

$3 \frac{4}{9} + 2 \frac{2}{9}$

Add the whole numbers.

Add the fractions.

Simplify the fraction.
