Evaluate, Simplify, and Translate Expressions: example 2.15

Evaluate $x^{2}$ when $x = 10 .$

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution
We substitute $10$ for $x,$ and then simplify the expression.

Use the definition of exponent.

Multiply.

When $x = 10,$ the expression $x^{2}$ has a value of $100 .$
