Evaluate, Simplify, and Translate Expressions: example 2.16

$Evaluate 2^{x} when x = 5 .$

Work it out on paper first. Then open the solution one step at a time, and stop as soon as you can finish on your own.

Solution
In this expression, the variable is an exponent.

Use the definition of exponent.

Multiply.

When $x = 5,$ the expression $2^{x}$ has a value of $32 .$
